AIDAcosma presented to the world for the first time
Today, on July 10, 2021, AIDAcosma reached the next big milestone: The latest newbuilding of the AIDA fleet showed itself to the world for the first time. At around 9:30 a.m., the ship left the construction hall of the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg.
AIDAcosma shines with AIDA's characteristic paint scheme, including the well-known kissing mouth. All cabins are already on board. Shortly before the ship was undocked, the last inspection of the underwater hull and the installation of the ship's propellers were carried out. Thus, all major technical installations on board are finished, as the entire engine room and the special tanks for the low-emission liquefied natural gas (LNG) were already completed at NEPTUN WERFT in Warnemünde and shipped to MEYER WERFT as a FERU (floating unit). Just like her sister AIDAnova, AIDAcosma will be operated with low-emission liquefied natural gas in the future.
The following steps are due to take place before the ship enters service in December 2021: the further construction of all interior areas at the outfitting pier, the Ems transfer with subsequent test cruises, and the final outfitting with the very last preparations for the reception of the first guests on board AIDAcosma. The dual leadership for the christening is already fixed as well: Godmother of AIDAcosma is the exceptional athlete, Kristina Vogel. Captain Vincent Cofalka will accompany the christening and commissioning.
The newest ship in the AIDA fleet will sail seven-day cruises around the Canary Islands in its premiere season in winter 2021/2022. Prior to the Canary Islands program, guests can look forward to a very special cruise over Christmas and New Year's Eve. On December 22, 2021, the transfer voyage from Hamburg to Gran Canaria starts.
AIDAcosma offers guests exciting experiences with features well-known from AIDAnova such as the Beach Club, the Theatrium with its 360° stage, the TV studio and the spacious Body & Soul Organic Spa. Culinary delights await guests in 17 restaurants and 17 bars. New highlights include a bouldering wall, the Fun Park with double water slide, and the spacious Ocean Deck at the stern, which extends across the entire width of the ship. The infinity pool offers magnificent views of the sea.
From April 13, 2022, the ship will set off on a transfer voyage to the Mediterranean. Subsequently, seven-day cruises to the Mediterranean treasures from Mallorca or Barcelona are on the program.
